ASILO: Nosotros Tierra Somos
Exile is not the subject of my work; it is the place from which I create.
For more than twenty years, I have been unable to return to Venezuela. This rupture has become the foundation of an artistic practice that explores memory, displacement and our relationship with land as living archives.
Working across photography, performance, writing and immersive installations, I investigate how personal histories intertwine with ancestral knowledge, ecological presence and the enduring traces of colonization and extractivism in Latin America. Rather than documenting exile, I seek to understand how it transforms identity, belonging and the ways we inhabit the world.
Poetry is the thread that runs through every project, shaping immersive experiences where images become spaces for emotional, political and sensory encounters. My installations invite viewers to navigate absence, memory and resilience as shared human experiences.
Rooted in ecofeminist perspectives and relational practices of care, my work bridges the intimate and the collective, creating spaces where invisible histories can be seen, heard and felt. Through artistic creation, I seek not only to preserve memory, but to imagine new forms of belonging across borders, generations and landscapes.
